Guwahati: Comic Con India made a vibrant Northeast debut on Saturday, drawing massive footfall of fans, creators and cosplayers at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex.
Organised in association with Maruti Suzuki Arena and powered by Crunchyroll, the event marked a major milestone for the region’s fast-growing pop-culture community.
Assam Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota attended the opening day, which featured creator sessions, performances, immersive experiences and interactive fan activities.
Globally renowned Archie Comics artist and writer Bill Golliher was among the biggest draws, meeting fans and signing editions.

Top Indian illustrators from the Northeast, including Arunachal Pradesh’s Marvel collaborator Tadam Gyadu and Assam’s digital artist Debojyoti Choudhury, also showcased their work to enthusiastic crowds.
A storytelling session by Studio Kapi and an interactive discussion with artist Rajesh Nagulakonda received strong participation from aspiring creators.
Fans also attended the launch of Raj Rahman: The Weight We Carry by Bullseye Press, alongside a nostalgia-filled Amar Chitra Katha session.

On stage, the entertainment lineup included cosplay performances, comedy by Krishnendu Paul and music acts led by Kai RJ and MC Headshot.
The city’s biggest cosplay contest saw participants arrive as characters from Deadpool to Demon Slayer, competing for a cash prize of Rs. 30,000.

Crunchyroll’s Spy x Family and Demon Slayer zones, along with gaming arenas by Maruti Suzuki Arena, NODWIN, RedBull and others, offered high-energy experiences throughout the day.

“The Northeast is full of energy, passion and creativity, and today’s crowd has reaffirmed just how vibrant this community is.”
Day 2 will host a special appearance by esports star Scout (Tanmay Singh), who will interact with fans and take part in gaming challenges.
