Guwahati: The inaugural Guwahati Comic Con wrapped up on Saturday after drawing more than 15,000 pop culture fans to the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex over two days, organisers said.
Held on November 22 and 23 and presented by Maruti Suzuki Arena with Crunchyroll as powered-by partner, the event brought together comic creators, illustrators, cosplayers, anime fans and artists from across the Northeast.
The second day featured a line-up of sessions, including a discussion marking 45 years of Amar Chitra Katha and the launch of two new titles — World of Butterfingers Vol. 2 by Khyrunnisa A and Abhijeet Kini, and Where We Left Off, an indie comic on climate realities by Nikhil Kamath and Kini.
Tinkle’s Wingstar activity engaged younger visitors.
Archie Comics veteran Bill Golliher headlined an interactive sketch and storytelling segment with fellow artists.
The entertainment roster included a musical tribute to Zubeen Garg by Once Fly Rock, stand-up act by Anirban Dasgupta and a performance by rapper EPR Iyer.
The event concluded with the Guwahati qualifier of the Indian Championship of Cosplay 2026 — billed as the city’s biggest cosplay contest — where participants portrayed characters from comics, anime and gaming titles.
ArshyDeori, cosplaying as Nikke, won the top prize of Rs. 50,000 along with merchandise and a qualification spot for the national championship.

Comic Con India CEO Shefali Johnson said the overwhelming response underscored the Northeast’s strong fan community.
“Every moment reminded us why this community is so extraordinary,” she said.
Calling it a long-awaited milestone, Akshat Rathee, Co-founder and MD of NODWIN Gaming, said Guwahati Comic Con marked the beginning of a “long-term commitment” to the region’s talent and creative energy.
The Comic Con tour now moves to New Delhi, where the next edition will be held from December 5 to 7, 2025.
