Guwahati: Athgaon Sarvajanik Durga Puja Samity is all set to bring a touch of magic and fantasy to this year’s Durga Puja celebrations with an enchanting Harry Potter theme.
With a budget of Rs 40 lakh, the Samity promises to transport devotees into the spellbinding world of Hogwarts, offering an experience like never before.
The pandal will feature a larger-than-life Hogwarts Castle replica at a staggering height of 60-70 feet, making it one of the tallest thematic structures ever created in the region.
The pandal will offer an immersive experience, allowing visitors to walk through iconic scenes from the Harry Potter universe. They can also expect to encounter beloved characters like Harry Potter, Professor Dumbledore, and Professor Snape, brought to life by live costumed artists who will interact with the public.
“This year, we wanted to offer something extraordinary and captivating. The world of Harry Potter holds a special place in the hearts of many, and we thought it would be the perfect way to blend tradition with a magical fantasy,” said the spokesperson for the Samity.
“Our theme will not only celebrate Durga Puja in its traditional glory but will also offer an unforgettable experience to people of all ages,” he added.
With lighting arrangements valued at Rs 8 lakh, sourced from Chandan Nagar, West Bengal, renowned for its breathtaking illumination work, the pandal will truly glow like the corridors of Hogwarts.
The idol, which costs Rs 2.5 lakh, will be the centerpiece of the festivities. Its design will incorporate elements from both the magical and traditional realms.
The puja will commence on Sashti and will continue with Bhog distribution on the subsequent days—Saptami, Ashtami, and Navami—bringing a taste of festive joy to all attendees.
“Durga Puja is not just about religious rituals; it’s a celebration of culture, community, and creativity. This year, we have gone the extra mile to bring people together with an experience that blends the timeless joy of Durga Puja with the magical allure of Harry Potter,” the spokesperson added.
