Govt to take advanced healthcare facilities to every corner of Assam: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said the state government is committed to taking advanced healthcare facilities to every part of the state.

“The Tamulpur Medical College & Hospital will further bolster our efforts to take advanced healthcare facilities to every part of the State and create more opportunities for our aspiring youth,” CM Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on X.

The state government is currently building 23 medical colleges across the state.

He said, “There were just three medical colleges for a very long time when Congress was in power. We are now building 23 medical colleges around the state, and we plan to start building three more in the districts of Darang, Hojai, and Hailakandi within the next year.”

The chief minister on Tuesday laid the foundation for a 50-bed Critical Care Block at SM Dev Civil Hospital in Silchar,

The new critical care block, covering 6,335 sqm, will include a ground-plus-four-story structure and provide advanced medical services, including an ICU, operation theatre, isolation wards, and a pediatric care unit.

The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 24 crore.

CM Sarma also laid the foundation stone for a New Circuit House in Silchar. Besides, the chief minister announced plans for a new 200-bed hospital and a flyover to ease traffic congestion in the town.
