GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 11,599 crore in Guwahati, made a significant announcement on Sunday.
He informed that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre is committed to moving towards a future where households across the nation would have zero electricity bills.
Addressing a mass gathering at Veterinary Field Ground in Khanapara, PM Modi highlighted the government’s achievements in the past decade, stating, “In the last 10 years, we ran a campaign to provide electricity to every house. Now we are moving towards making the electricity bill zero.”
He elaborated on a massive rooftop solar scheme announced in the 2024 interim budget, aiming to assist one crore families in installing rooftop solar panels.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the BJP’s dedication to reaching every beneficiary through the “double-engine” government.
“Our goal is to make the life of every citizen comfortable. This focus is clear in our budget. In the budget, the government has resolved to spend Rs 11 lakh crore on infrastructure,” he affirmed.
Among the pivotal projects inaugurated during the event on February 4, was the Maa Kamakhya Divya Pariyojana, sanctioned under the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North Eastern Region (PM-DevINE) scheme.
The initiative aims to provide world-class amenities to pilgrims visiting the Kamakhya temple, he reiterated.
“After the grand event in Ayodhya, I have now come here to the dwar (doorstep) of Mother Kamakhya. Today, I had the privilege of laying the foundation stone of the Maa Kamakhya Divya Pariyojana Project here. When it is completed, it will fill the devotees of Mother Goddess from all over the country and the world with immense joy,” said PM Modi.
Highlighting the surge in tourism and pilgrimage enthusiasm across the country, PM Modi shared, “Since the Ram Temple in Ayodhya was thrown open to the public on January 22, over 24 lakh people have taken darshan and that too in just 12 days.
