GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has claimed that government-aided schools across the state have witnessed a major infrastructural boost since 2021-22.
Taking to his X handle, the chief minister said, “Our schools are knowledge hubs where our children’s dreams take the shape of reality.”
He claimed that the state government has made all-out efforts to ensure that children receive quality education with the best educational infrastructure.
“To support our children in getting education in the best infrastructural environment, we are building schools replete with all basic facilities to make learning convenient for them,” CM Sarma said.
He pointed out that the state has prioritized providing essential facilities, including electrification, drinking water, and separate toilets.
He said that since the 2021-22 academic year, Assam has witnessed significant upgrades across several key infrastructure areas in government schools.

The electrification in schools increased from 90.11% in 2021-22 to 99.86% in 2022-23. Similarly, the provision of drinking water facilities rose from 96.86% to 98.21% during the same period.
Additionally, the construction of boys’ and girls’ toilets also saw notable enhancements, with completion rates reaching 98.55% and 99.26% respectively.

The report highlights that schools also witnessed significant infrastructure improvements with the construction of boundary walls and ramps.
According to the chief minister, over 44,188 schools have benefitted from these interventions, demonstrating the Assam government’s commitment to improving education.
