Guwahati: Professor Kandarpa Das, vice-chancellor of Girijananda Chowdhury University has been conferred the honorary title ‘Ambassador of Russian Education and Science’.
The Russian Council of the Consortium of Educational and Scientific Organizations conferred the honorary title to Prof. Kandarpa Das.
An alumnus of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Prof. Das obtained his doctorate degree in Russian Literature from the Moscow State University.
Prof. Kandarpa Das is also a Fulbright Scholar for the year 2015.
On behalf of the members of the Consortium Council, Prof. V. M. Filipov, President of the Patrice Lumumba People’s Friendship University, Moscow conveyed the decision and congratulated Dr. Das on being awarded the title.
Prof. Das has also been invited to the solemn ceremony of presenting the regalia “Ambassador of Russian Education and Science” on November 27-28, 2024 in Moscow.
The Consortium shall cover the cost towards air tickets, accommodation and the local hospitality – the letter informs.
The Russian House in New Delhi has congratulated Prof. Kandarpa Das for such a rare honour.
Prof. Das is the only Indian amongst the 13 scholars from different countries – Burkina Faso, Vietnam, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kyrgystan, Maly, Mozambique, Mongolia, Republic of Guiney, Sri Lanka and Ecuador, who have been bestowed this honour.
It is worth mentioning that Prof. Das had received the Pushkin Medal from Russia last year for his contribution towards advancement of Russian Language across the world.
