GUWAHATI: In a bid to ensure a robust and transparent candidate selection process ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls in Rajasthan, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has announced the formation of a Screening Committee with Gaurav Gogoi as the chairman. In view of the upcoming state polls in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, the Grand Old Party has constituted screening committees to shortlist competent candidates.
Expressing confidence that Gogoi, the deputy leader of the opposition party in Lok Sabha, will steer the committee’s efforts in evaluating potential candidates rigorously, Kharge said that members Ganesh Godiyal and Abhishek Dutt will also be a part of the committee.
One of the key aims of the committee is to maintain the party’s integrity and uphold the principles of inclusivity during the candidate selection process. By assembling a diverse panel of experienced leaders, the committee seeks to ensure that every citizen’s voice is represented in the party’s candidate selection, said the Congress president in a press communiqué issued on August 2.
The Congress Party remains committed to serving the people of Rajasthan and dedicated to field candidates who embody the values of democracy, equality, and progress. The screening process will focus on identifying leaders with strong track records, visionary ideas, and a genuine passion for serving the public, the statement read.
Kharge expressed confidence in the screening committee’s capabilities and extended his best wishes to the committee members for their diligent work ahead. He called upon all party members and supporters to actively contribute to the democratic process as the party gears up for the crucial Rajasthan Assembly Elections in 2023.
With the screening committee in place, the Congress Party aims to build a formidable team of candidates who can effectively represent the aspirations of the people and work towards the progress and development of Rajasthan. The party remains steadfast in its commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and ensuring the best leaders lead the charge in the upcoming elections, the President added.
