Guwahati: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between the Gauhati University and the family of Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala on February 5.

The event will be held at 12 pm at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room of Gauhati University.

The agreement marks the formal beginning of a collaborative effort to preserve, document, and digitise original manuscripts, film scripts, letters, architectural sketches, and other original works of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala currently in the possession of his family.

As part of the agreement, the archival materials will be conserved at the Krishna Kanta Handiqui Library of Gauhati University, and made accessible for academic research and public reference in accordance with established archival practices.

Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta will be present at the MoU signing ceremony.

Daughters of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, Mrs Gyanashree Pathak and Mrs Satyashree Das, will also attend the programme.

The initiative reflects a shared commitment between the University and the Agarwala family to safeguard an important part of Assam’s cultural and intellectual history, and to ensure that these works continue to inspire future generations through research, teaching, and public engagement.
