GUWAHATI: Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam organised an Ex-Servicemen Re-union rally to felicitate 26 successful ex-servicemen candidates of Assam at the State War Memorial, Dighalipuri in Guwahati.
These candidates, who appeared for the APSC examination in 2022, now stand poised to join the government on March 1, marking a significant milestone in their post-military careers.
The initiative comes in the wake of the government’s landmark decision during the 25th Rajya Sainik Board meeting on May 13, 2022, where it sanctioned a 2% reservation of vacancies across all departments for ex-servicemen.
The rally, graced Minister of and Rural Development, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, by Ranjeet Kumar Dass, witnessed the presence of a gathering of ex-servicemen officers, junior commissioned officer, and other ranks.
Minister Dass, serving as the Chief Guest, delivered a stirring address, urging the successful candidates to imbibe values of honesty, integrity, and efficiency as they embark on their new roles within the administration.
He further encouraged other ex-servicemen to strive for similar achievements, leveraging the reserved vacancies across various state departments.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families, Minister Dass reiterated how the significance of the 2% reservation policy is aimed at rehabilitate, resettle and support its veterans.
Brigadier Dinesh Chandra Mazumdar (Retd), Director of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, expressed deep gratitude towards the government for its unwavering support.
