Mirza (Assam): A re-union rally of the Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Association, Mirza, was organised on Sunday at Jahnabi Bhawan, Mirza, Assam.
The event aimed to address grievances related to pensions, banking, and documentation, providing solutions under one roof.
The rally witnessed the participation of 68 ex-servicemen, 49 widows, four disabled ex-servicemen or dependents, and 121 wives or dependents of ex-servicemen.
The event was presided over by Ex-Subedar Sudhana Chandra Kalita, President of the ESM Association, Mirza.
It was attended by Col. P.N. Giri (Retd.), Welfare Officer of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, as the chief guest.
Group Captain M. Das, Chief Administrative and Development Officer (CADO), and Flying Officer Aishwarya, Adjutant of 19 Wing, were present as guests of honour.
The rally also saw attendance from retired senior officers of the armed forces, serving civil dignitaries, and staff from the Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Kamrup (M).
Ex-Sergeant Bhadreswar Das, a member of the association, welcomed the guests, veterans, Veer Naris, and their dependents. Representatives of the Zila Sainik Welfare Office, including Ex-Naib Subedar Nabin Singh and Ex-Havildar Troilokya Kumar Kakati, conducted interactive sessions covering topics such as resettlement and rehabilitation of ex-servicemen, welfare schemes by the Kendriya Sainik Board and the Rajya Sainik Board, pension-related grievances under SPARSH, ECHS issues, and reservation policies in education and government jobs.
Participants were also briefed on the “Rashtriya Kritagyata Evam Jagrookta Yojana,” a sensitisation initiative of the Governor of Assam, implemented in partnership with the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam.

Addressing the rally, Giri expressed gratitude to the veterans and their families for their service to the nation.
He assured swift resolution of grievances and reiterated the Directorate of Sainik Welfare’s commitment to the well-being of the ex-servicemen community.
During the rally, Veer Naris, orphans, disabled dependents, and distinguished veterans were felicitated in recognition of their sacrifices and contributions.
