GUWAHATI: In a major drug bust, Assam police seized narcotics worth over Rs 3.5 crore and arrested a suspect in Nagaon district, as confirmed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The operation, initiated after receiving a tip-off, led to the interception of a vehicle on Friday night.
During the search, police discovered 532.46 grams of heroin hidden in secret compartments within the vehicle.

Following the seizure, the driver was apprehended on the spot.
Chief Minister Sarma took to social media, praising the efforts of the police: “Based on input from an apprehended individual, @nagaonpolice intercepted a vehicle and recovered 532.46 grams of heroin after a thorough search. The seized drugs, worth Rs 3.5 crore, were cleverly concealed in hidden chambers of the vehicle. Excellent work by @assampolice.”
The operation underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in Assam to combat drug trafficking and illicit activities in the region.
