GUWAHATI: In a significant drug bust in Assam, authorities seized Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 15 crore and arrested two individuals.
The operation took place in Cachar district, as announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday.
Sarma revealed that, acting on credible intelligence, the Cachar police initiated a special operation at Ghoongur Bypass.
During the operation, they intercepted a vehicle traveling from a neighbouring state.
A detailed search led to the discovery of 50,000 Yaba tablets, hidden in five separate packets, which were recovered on Saturday.

Two suspects have been taken into custody, and the vehicle involved in the illegal transport has been impounded.
Chief Minister Sarma praised the Assam Police for their diligent efforts in their ongoing mission to rid the state of drugs.
Yaba, often referred to as “crazy medicine” in Thai, is a highly addictive drug composed of a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine, both powerful stimulants.
