GUWAHATI: The down town hospital’s 35th Anniversary, spanning over several days, culminated in a memorable public oration and award ceremony at ITA Machkhowa.
Notable dignitaries graced the occasion, including Padma Shri Surjya Kanta Hazarika, President of Asam Sahitya Sabha, who was as the Chief Guest for the occasion.
The event also marked the inauguration of the 65th edition of the down town Newsletter.
Addressing the gathering, Padma Shri Hazarika commended the hospital’s 35 years of dedicated service to the people of the Northeast.
He lauded Dr N.N. Dutta and down town hospital for their noble initiative in organising the public oration, highlighting the importance of compassion and empathy in every profession.
The 32nd Public Oration, themed on “Patient Safety”, was delivered by Dr Purnendu Roy, Chairman & Managing Director of Genesis Group of Companies, Kolkata.
Dr Roy highlighted the paramount importance of prioritising patient safety in medical practice and underscored the need for strict adherence to established protocols.
In recognition of exemplary service, the hospital-instituted “Award of Excellence in Medicine”, was conferred upon Dr. Manabendra Nayak, Consultant & HOD- Department of General Medicine, down town hospital.
Additionally, Prof. Jogesh Mahanta Memorial Award and Prof. Pratul Goswami Memorial Award were also conferred to Dr. Sarbeswar Bhuyan and Dr. Mauchumi Saikia Pathak, respectively, for their significant contributions to the healthcare sector.
Awards and prizes for various competitions were also distributed by esteemed guests, including CA Debashis Mitra, CMD Dr N.N. Dutta, Medical Director Dr B.K. Gogoi, and Whole Time Director Prof. Bandana Dutta.
Meritorious awards and scholarships were also given away to the wards of the hospital’s staff and doctors.
The festivities had commenced on February 2, featuring various competitions among the hospital staff and doctors, followed by a two-day mega health mela.
