JORHAT: The Delta 5 Motorcycle Expedition, a pan-India tour launched to celebrate the Rajat Jayanti of the Indian Army’s triumph in the Kargil War, was ceremoniously flagged off from Jorhat Military Station on Thursday.
Brigadier MR Subodh, Deputy General Officer Commanding 41 Sub Area, presided over the flagging off ceremony.
The event was attended by enthusiastic NCC students who actively engaged with the riders, gaining insights into the expedition’s mission and significance.
All participants in the expedition are proud members of the Regiment of Artillery, underscoring their commitment to honouring the legacy of the Kargil victory.
The motorcyclists had gathered at Jorhat Military Station the previous day, preparing for their arduous journey ahead.
Spanning a formidable 4000 km along the eastern route to Drass, the expedition will traverse through eight states and union territories.
The routes commenced simultaneously from three strategic locations – Dinjan Military Station, Dhanuskodi, and Dwarka.
These convergent paths will culminate in Delhi before reaching Drass, a poignant location synonymous with the heroic deeds of Indian soldiers during the 1999 Kargil conflict.
Beyond its commemorative objectives, the Delta 5 Motorcycle Expedition holds a profound mission to honour Kargil Veer Naris (war widows) and War Veterans encountered along its route.
This tribute underscores their invaluable contributions and sacrifices for the nation.
Additionally, the expedition seeks to educate and inspire school children, NCC cadets, and the general public about the unparalleled bravery and valour exhibited by the Indian Army during the Kargil Victory.
The Delta 5 Motorcycle Expedition is not merely a journey; it stands as a living testament to the enduring legacy of honour and valour cherished by the Indian Army, resonating deeply with the spirit of national defence and pride.
