The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), NF Circle, Sumeet Singhal, is scheduled to conduct a two-day statutory inspection of the newly constructed Murkongselek-Sille railway section on February 12 and 13.
The 15.60 km section falls under Phase-I of the project within Tinsukia division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).
This marks a crucial step towards operationalising the first phase of 26.15 km-long Murkongselek-Pasighat New Railway Line Project under the Tinsukia Division of NF Railway.
Successful completion of the inspection and subsequent clearance is expected to pave the way for regular passenger and freight train operations up to Sille, significantly enhancing rail connectivity in the region.
The CRS will be joined by senior officials from the NFR Construction Organisation, which supervised the project.
The inspection is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. from Murkongselek station.

The full 26.15 km Murkongselek-Pasighat line runs from Murkongselek in Assam to Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh. Phase-II covers the remaining 10.55 km between Sille and Pasighat. The alignment includes three stations-Sille, Labo and Pasighat-along with major and minor bridges, road overbridges and underpasses.
The railway line will ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities and provide long-distance rail access to communities in Arunachal Pradesh.
By enhancing rail infrastructure, the project is expected to create new opportunities for tourism, trade, and regional economic development, connecting local populations more effectively with major markets and urban centres.
