Meanwhile, as part of administrative infrastructure development in Majuli, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Integrated District Commissioner’s Office at Garamur today.

The Chief Minister’s Office said that the three-storey building has been constructed under SOPD at a cost of Rs 24.83 crore and spread across 4,263.51 sq. metres. This inauguration brings the DC’s office and key departments together under one roof.

The DC office also houses modern facilities such as meeting halls, a video conference room, digital library, auditorium, childcare room and public service spaces, ensuring improved public service delivery.

Further, CM Sarma ceremonially distributed seed capital of Rs 10,000 each under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan (MMUA) to 31,952 women of the river island district. With this, the scheme has now benefitted 28,17,857 women across the state.

During his visit, CM Sarma also ceremonially inaugurated the Academic Building and a Girls’ Hostel of Majuli University of Culture, which has been constructed at a cost of nearly Rs 51 crore.

The three-storey academic block, with a capacity of 1,880 students, is equipped with modern classrooms, administrative offices and technology-enabled facilities, while the four-storey hostel provides safe and well-equipped accommodation for 178 students.
