Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk on Saturday enjoyed a jungle safari in the Kaziranga National Park.
On the second of his three-day maiden visit to Assam, he flew to Jorhat airport from the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati.
Prior to his check-out from Hotel Radisson Blu in Guwahati, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, teachers of various educational institutions and senior state government officials called on him.
From Jorhat airport, he reached the Kaziranga National Park by road, and checked in at the IORA the Retreat, a luxury resort at Kohora.
At the Guwahati airport, the 43-year-old Bhutan King was accorded a ceremonial sendoff by Assam Educational Minister Ranoj Pegu, Mayor of Guwahati Mrigen Sarania, Assam Chief Secretary Paban Barthakur and other senior officials.
On his arrival at Kohora, the Bhutan King was accorded a warm welcome by Assam Agriculture minister Atul Bora, Environment and Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and other senior officials.
During the jeep safari at the central Kohora range from Mihimukh gate, officials of the Kaziranga National Park, including Principal Chief Conservator of Forest &HoFF M K Yadava, accompanied the Bhtan King.
The royal entourage stopped at Kathpora watchtower and Daflang tower before returning back to Mihimukh.
The Bhutan King also witnessed elephant bathing at the Kohor River. He also enjoyed the sunset from the riding point with Karbi Anglong hills in the background.
