GUWAHATI: The halls of the down town School in Guwahati echoed with peals of laughter and echoes of enchantment as it played host to a mesmerising puppet show, a spectacle orchestrated by the International Arts and Cultural Foundation, Bengaluru.

Curated by Shrivatsa Shandilyaa, the event transcended the boundaries of mere entertainment, turning into an immersive journey harping on imagination and cultural heritage.

The festival unfolded as a celebration of puppetry and storytelling, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of students and educators alike.

The enchanting medium of puppets wove tales that transported attendees to magical worlds, captivating their senses and sparking their creativity.

At its core, the festival championed the essential message of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”, becoming more than just a display of artistic prowess.

The puppetry performances became a poignant vehicle for raising awareness and advocating gender equality, igniting crucial conversations about the empowerment and education of daughters.

Students at school were not merely spectators; they became active participants in a comprehensive education in puppetry.

The festival provided a platform for them to explore various puppet types and dive deep into the diverse forms and traditions of this age-old art.

It was a journey into the rich cultural heritage associated with storytelling through puppets.

The festivities took a vibrant turn as children engaged in a lively dance session with puppets, infusing boundless joy and creative expression into the celebration.

However, the pinnacle of the event was the interactive sessions that forged a profound connection between the students and the art of puppetry.

These sessions highlighted the cultural significance and relevance of puppetry in today’s dynamic world.

The down town School expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organisers, and all those involved in orchestrating this unforgettable event.

Their dedication and commitment turned this celebration of puppetry and storytelling into a resounding success, leaving an indelible impression on the canvas of educational and cultural experiences for the students.
