Barpeta: A crucial district-level meeting was held on February 21 at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s office to discuss preparations for the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Investors Summit.
The meeting, chaired by Kaustav Kalita, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Barpeta, focused on the goals and significance of the initiative, aimed at boosting investment and industrial growth in the region.
During the meeting, ADC Kalita provided a comprehensive briefing on the summit’s objectives and the benefits of signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with investors, entrepreneurs, and industries from Barpeta district.
He emphasised how these partnerships would foster economic growth and job creation within the district.
The gathering was attended by key officials from various government departments, including Agriculture, Sericulture, Fishery, Veterinary, Handloom and Textile, Cooperative Societies, and the Local District Manager (LDM). Additionally, the meeting saw the participation of DPM ASRLM, CPM NULM, as well as entrepreneurs, food processing unit owners, and medical professionals.
A key point of discussion was the ongoing land reclassification process for proposed industrial units in the district, which is integral to the successful establishment of businesses.

The importance of signing MoUs with credible and genuine entrepreneurs was highlighted, ensuring that the process remains transparent and beneficial for all parties involved.
Kalita also stressed the need for department heads to be present during the MoU signing ceremony and live-streaming of the event, which is set to take place on February 25, at the General Manager’s office of the District Industries and Commerce Centre in Barpeta.
The summit is expected to play a pivotal role in attracting investment and fostering a positive business environment in Barpeta, paving the way for greater economic opportunities in the region.
