Guwahati: In a significant step towards empowering small and marginal farmers in Assam, Bajali Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited on Thursday (June 12) inaugurated its new office, along with a dedicated Purchase & Sales Centre, Agri Input Shop, and Storeroom at Jalikhata in Bajali district.
Established on July 19, 2021, this FPC has become a cornerstone of support for the local agricultural community.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Ankita Madhulalya, District Development Manager, NABARD, alongside Hrishikesh Ray, Project Coordinator, and other representatives from Access Development Services. Over 100 farmer-shareholders and progressive farmers also attended the event, marking a strong show of community support.
This new facility is set to revolutionize access to crucial resources for farmers.
It will provide better access to agricultural inputs, streamline the aggregation of produce, strengthen market linkages, and offer much-needed storage solutions. Beyond its commercial functions, the centre will also serve as a vital hub for farmer interaction, knowledge sharing, and capacity building, fostering a collaborative environment.
Bajali Agro FPC currently boasts a membership of over 500 shareholders and functions under the Government of India’s CSS 10000 FPO Program. The NABARD Assam Regional Office is the implementing agency for this program, with Access Development Services functioning as the Cluster-Based Business Organisation (CBBO).
Speaking during the event, NABARD’s DDM, Ankita Madhulalya, emphasized the critical role of institutional partnerships in driving sustainable agricultural development and ensuring farmers receive timely and affordable support.
She commended the FPC and the CBBO team for their dedication in making the centre operational, which will directly benefit farmers at the grassroots level.
