GUWAHATI: The autumn session of the Assam Legislative Assembly will commence on August 22, according to an order issued by the Governor of Assam.
As per the order dated July 17, Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria summoned the autumn session of the Legislative assembly to meet on August 22.
The session is scheduled to commence at 9:30 am on August 22 at the Assembly Chamber in Dispur.
The announcement was made in accordance with the powers conferred under Article 174(1) of the Constitution of India.
Last year the autumn session of the Legislative Assembly was held from September 12-19, 2023.
During the 2023 autumn session, six bills were introduced, which aimed at establishing multiple new universities in the state as well as for making key changes in the existing seven universities.
During the session, Assam also passed the Assam Panchayat (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
Other bills such as the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (Amendment) Bill 2023, the Assam Tea Plantation Provident Fund and Deposit Linked Insurance Fund Scheme (Amendment)Bill 2023, and Assam Backward Classes Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2023 were also presented.
