Guwahati: Kaushik Kashyap, a talented vocalist from Assam’s Dibrugarh, has captured the hearts of music lovers with his latest Hindi release ‘Chandni Raat.’
Taking the social media world by storm, the romantic melody, released on the YouTube channel ‘WECFY’ music, has already amassed impressive views within its first week, marking a significant milestone in Kashyap’s musical journey.
The video, shot entirely in Dibrugarh’s heritage locations, tells the poignant story of an introvert’s transformation through love.
What makes this achievement particularly noteworthy is that the project was conceived and executed during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, when Kashyap was forced to return to his hometown from Mumbai.
In the stark silence of a world ground to a halt by COVID-19, Kashyap found himself exiled from the bustling streets of Mumbai, forced to retreat to his hometown like countless other dreamers.
Empty emails echoed back from potential sponsors. Phone calls to industry contacts went unanswered. His savings dwindled as swiftly as his hopes, and the weight of family expectations pressed heavily upon his shoulders.
Yet in those darkest hours, when even the faintest whisper of success seemed to mock him, Kashyap found an unexpected ally in solitude.
Armed with nothing but raw talent and steely resolve, he transformed his small room into a makeshift studio. Every sleepless night, every failed attempt, every moment of doubt became fuel for his creation.
‘Chandni Raat’ emerged not just as a song, but as a validation of human resilience – a melody born from the ashes of despair, proof that sometimes our greatest achievements bloom in the most barren of circumstances.
“This is my second Hindi song, and I am thrilled with the positive response. It is very tough to make a Hindi song without strong financial support. With limited support, I planned to make the video song in Dibrugarh,” shares Kashyap, who invested his personal savings into the project.
“During shooting, we faced lots of hurdles. But somehow we managed and completed the shooting within two days,” he says.
Born into a musical family, Kashyap’s journey into the world of music began at an early age. Despite being an engineer by profession, his passion for music and performing arts led him to Mumbai, where he collaborated with renowned artiste Ali Quli Mirza.
“I was working in Mumbai with Ali Quli Mirza and had done lots of shows all over India, but my life changed drastically after the lockdown,” Kashyap recalls.
His resilience in the face of adversity is particularly inspiring. “After spending time in Dibrugarh, I thought of making a project in Hindi. I composed the song ‘Chandni Raat’ and lent my voice to it. I faced lots of issues while doing the project but managed things with my determined effort,” he said.
Kashyap’s versatility as an artiste is evident in his diverse portfolio. He composed the title track for the acclaimed period short film ‘Hunz N Gunz,’ where he also played the lead role.
His Sufi-fusion track ‘Jogi De Naal,’ released by Zee Music Company, has garnered significant acclaim. Additionally, his Assamese video song ‘Sadiya‘ was recognized by Assam Tourism, winning second place for promoting the region’s tourism.
Drawing inspiration from both Indian classical and Western music, Kashyap has developed a unique fusion style that resonates with audiences nationwide.
His journey from performing at venues in Pune and Assam to collaborating with industry veterans exemplifies the power of perseverance in pursuing one’s artistic dreams.
‘Chandni Raat’ represents not just a musical achievement but a triumph of creative spirit over adversity, as Kashyap successfully transformed the challenges of the pandemic into an opportunity for artistic expression and growth.
