Guwahati: Abhinab Gautam, an athlete from Assam Agricultural University’s (AAU) College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara, has secured a bronze medal at the Asian Armwrestling Championship 2025.
The championship, held in New Delhi from May 3, saw participation from 21 Asian countries, including powerhouses like Japan, Iran, and Kazakhstan.
Gautam’s remarkable achievement not only brings glory to Assam but also contributes to India’s increasing prominence in international armwrestling competitions.
The Asian Armwrestling Championship 2025 brought together top armwrestlers from various countries, competing in different weight categories.
Abhinab Gautam’s exceptional strength, technique, and resilience were on full display in the 75 kg weight class, where he battled through tough competition to earn a third-place podium finish.

The championship drew athletes from countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the UAE, Jordan, Mongolia, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Pakistan, among others.
Gautam, a dedicated student at AAU’s College of Veterinary Science, impressively juggled his academic life with rigorous armwrestling training, making his accomplishment even more significant.
