Guwahati: The Assamese film ‘The Mirage- Avastav Xangramor Xaraanxo’ is all set for theatrical release on February 21.
The film, which is inspired by true events, delves into the intricacies and futilities of the armed struggle of some misguided youths of Northeast India and Assam in particular.
Written and directed by Bikash Mochahary, the film tells the story of Jagat, a young man who faces hardships in life and struggles to achieve financial security and becomes disillusioned by the corruption he encounters.
Unable to cope with the harsh realities of his life, he joins a banned organization operating from a foreign country. While with the group, he and his colleagues are assigned a special mission.
They cross the border into India and successfully complete their mission, but the consequences are devastating.
“The Mirage is a poignant exploration of the disillusionment that often follows revolution, the haunting echoes of failed struggles, and the fragile nature of belief in the face of betrayal and despair,” said producer Anamika Baruah.
