Barpeta: Union Minister of State for Law & Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, conducted a detailed review of government schemes in Barpeta district of Assam on March 22, focusing on enhancing their implementation and effectiveness.
The review meeting brought together local legislators, the District Commissioner, the District Development Commissioner, the CEO of Zilla Parishad, and other key administrative officials, including heads of various departments.
The discussions centered on evaluating the progress of schemes and identifying innovative approaches to improve their reach and impact.
Meghwal placed particular emphasis on education, advocating for creative methods to foster scientific curiosity among children from a young age.
He commended departments for their innovative service delivery initiatives and urged them to explore further measures to enhance efficiency.
Economic development was a focal point of the discussions, with the union minister urging district authorities to create an investment-friendly environment to attract industries and boost local economic growth.
On health, Meghwal stressed the need for early detection of serious ailments and strengthening healthcare infrastructure to better address challenges.
The review also touched on social issues, particularly the success of initiatives aimed at ending child marriage through the empowerment of girls.

The union minister lauded the district’s efforts in this regard and encouraged continued focus on such critical issues.
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of grassroots development, Meghwal emphasised that regular monitoring of schemes in aspirational districts like Barpeta is vital for improving key development indicators.
He assured that pressing issues raised during the meeting would be taken up with the central government for resolution.
