Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced plans to enhance women’s participation in the Tata Semiconductor Facility, set to be established in Jagiroad, Morigaon district.
The state government will construct a state-of-the-art hostel for working women at an investment of Rs. 142 crore.
The chief minister described the upcoming hostel as more than a residence, calling it a “symbol of Nari Shakti” where women can thrive in a nurturing and empowering environment.
Designed to accommodate over 1,000 women, the facility will feature modern amenities, including spacious bedrooms, leisure rooms, a creche for working mothers, a library, and a vibrant common area.
Safety will be prioritized with robust boundary walls, sound barriers, CCTV surveillance, and round-the-clock security.
The hostel will also offer a mess facility serving nutritious meals to support the health and well-being of its residents.
The chief minister highlighted the transformative potential of the Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt. Ltd. (TSAT), India’s first indigenous semiconductor assembly and test facility.
Backed by the India Semiconductor Mission and Assam’s Electronics Policy, TSAT is a significant step toward self-reliance in advanced technology.
“TSAT will not just be a factory but a beacon of progress for the North Eastern Region,” said Sarma, emphasising the project’s role in industrialisation, employment, and skill development.
