Tamulpur: The Tamulpur district of Assam will host a state-level half-marathon titled “Run for Happiness” on June 29, aimed at raising awareness against drug and substance abuse.
District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty announced the initiative during a press conference held at the District Commissioner’s Office on Thursday.
The 21-kilometer race is set to begin at 6 am from the Mela Chowk bus stop in Darranga, with participants competing for prizes worth Rs. 1 lakh.
The event is being organised in collaboration with Assam Police, SM Group, Smile Asia, and other supporters, and has received recognition from the Assam Athletics Association.
“Drug and substance abuse is a pressing challenge in today’s society. This marathon is not just a race but a collective call for awareness and action,” stated Chakravarty, urging the community to participate actively in the event.
