Dhemaji: The down town Charity Trust, a recognised Training and Management Partner of Samagra Shiksha, Assam, successfully organised Skill Utsav-2025 at Dhemaji Higher Secondary School on Saturday, celebrating the growing importance of skill-based education under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF).
The event aimed to promote vocational education among students and highlight how skill development can open up employment opportunities for the youth of Assam.
Assam’s Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu and Member of Parliament Pradan Barua graced the occasion as chief guests.
Principals of various government schools, officials from the Education Department, inspectors of schools, vocational trainers, and students also participated in the event.
Under the Samagra Shiksha initiative, down town Charity Trust implements vocational education in government schools across Assam by engaging 593 trainers in nine key sectoral areas — Healthcare, Tourism and Hospitality, Retail, IT-ITeS, Agriculture, Beauty and Wellness, Electronics and Hardware, Apparel, and Automotive.
Students from Classes IX to XII receive structured, industry-relevant training aligned with national occupational standards.
The Skill Utsav also showcased the achievements of students who have completed vocational training and assessment.
NSQF-aligned certificates issued by respective Sector Skill Councils were distributed to successful students, enabling them to pursue higher-level job-oriented courses or seek employment in their chosen sectors.
To acknowledge the dedication of educators, ten top-performing trainers were felicitated for their outstanding contribution to vocational education.
A special Skill Exhibition was another highlight of the event, featuring student projects and live demonstrations that reflected creativity, innovation, and practical learning.
Officials from down town Charity Trust reaffirmed their commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and industry demands through skill-based education.
The event concluded with a collective call to make skill development an integral part of mainstream education, ensuring that every student graduates with both knowledge and practical competencies for a sustainable future.
