GUWAHATI: Assam Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Nandita Gorlosa formally launched an NCC unit at Girijananda Chowdhury University in Guwahati on Saturday.
The event was attended by dignitaries including Brig Ajit Kumar Borah, Group Commander, Guwahati Group of NCC, University’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Kandarpa Das, and President of SSA Society, Jasoda Ranjan Das.
The mega event highlighted NCC’s crucial role in youth development.
The NCC battalion and GCU students contributed to the event’s success with engaging group musical and dance performances.
The NCC unit of Girijananda Chowdhury University will be raised as a part of its mission to facilitate the holistic development of the students and provide an opportunity to the youth in nation-building.
The NCC unit at the University will be operated under the administration of 7 Assam Battalion, NCC, Dhubri of NER Directorate of NCC.
Minister Gorlosa congratulated the newly recruited cadets and the University for their commitment to excellence.
She praised the NCC as a prestigious institution that has made significant contributions to youth development and national service.
She highlighted that the NCC has been a beacon of hope and inspiration for countless young men and women by instilling in them the values of duty, integrity, and service.
She urged the authorities of Girijananda Chowdhury University to facilitate the young cadets so that the NCC unit at the University can cultivate responsible citizens who can contribute positively to society.
