Guwahati: In a key development in the ongoing investigation into the mysterious death of music icon Zubeen Garg, a two-member team from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is scheduled to leave for Singapore today (October 20) to carry forward the probe.
The SIT team, led by its chief Munna Prasad Gupta, Special DGP (CID), along with investigating officer Tarun Goel, will depart for Kolkata at 8:30 PM before proceeding to Singapore.
The SIT delegation will carry out an on-ground investigation in Singapore, retracing Zubeen’s movements and verifying the sequence of events during his stay in the island nation.
During their visit, the SIT is scheduled to coordinate with Singapore Police authorities and inspect locations linked to Zubeen’s stay in the island nation. The team will also examine potential electronic and financial trails, collect additional documentary or CCTV evidence, and question individuals believed to have been in contact with the late singer during his time abroad.
SIT officials confirmed that 10 Assamese expatriates living in Singapore had earlier extended cooperation by sharing vital information believed to be central to understanding circumstances surrounding Zubeen’s final international trip. Their statements have reportedly helped investigators identify key contacts and engagements that may shed light on the events leading up to the singer’s death.
Apart from the Singapore leg of the probe, sources also confirmed that the SIT will continue parallel interrogations in India. Wajid Ahmed (Singapore citizen) and two yacht crew members linked to the case will also be questioned to establish clarity over certain suspicious links and communications.
