Guwahati: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Assam Police’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) has formally submitted the charge sheet in the mysterious death case of popular singer Zubeen Garg to the CJM Court in Guwahati, marking a significant development in the high-profile investigation.

Garg passed away in Singapore on September 19.

The charge sheet, spanning more than 3,500 pages, compiles months of investigation, including witness statements, forensic findings, and information gathered from multiple arrests. It has been submitted to the Chief Judicial Magistrate for further legal proceedings.

It was submitted by investigating officer Rosy Kalita on behalf of the SIT, which was led by SDGP Munna Prasad Gupta and included officers Moromi Medhi and Nab Dekai.

The comprehensive document highlights the depth and scope of the months-long probe, underscoring the meticulous efforts of the SIT in uncovering details surrounding the singer’s untimely death. According to officials, more than 300 individuals were interrogated during the investigation.

The sudden death of the singer sent shockwaves across the state, evoking widespread grief and calls for justice. Over the past several months, the CID has conducted extensive investigations and made multiple arrests, as public attention remained focused on the circumstances surrounding his death.

On the day the charge sheet was submitted, a large crowd of Zubeen Garg’s fans gathered outside the court, urging authorities to ensure justice for the beloved singer.

So far, seven individuals connected to the case have been arrested. They include organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, manager Siddharth Sharma, singer Amritprabha Mahanta, musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, cousin Sandipan Garg (DSP), and PSOs Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora, all of whom are currently in judicial custody.
