New Delhi: Assam Day was celebrated at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) on Thursday, featuring an impressive showcase of the state’s cultural heritage.
Speaking at the event held at Bharat Mandapam, Assam Industries and Commerce Minister Bimal Borah highlighted the state’s rising industrial potential under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. He noted that a series of reforms and initiatives undertaken by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have positioned Assam as an increasingly attractive destination for investors.
Borah said the state is capitalising on its strategic location as India’s gateway to Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific region, opening new avenues for trade and connectivity.
He also pointed to major industrial developments such as the Rs 27,000-crore Tata Semiconductor Plant coming up in Assam, describing it as a transformational step that will place the state firmly on the country’s industrial map.
He expressed confidence that major investments announced during the Advantage Assam Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2.0, which attracted proposals worth Rs 5 lakh crore, would accelerate the state’s journey toward becoming a fully developed economy in the near future.
