Guwahati: In a significant political development, Congress spokesperson Bobbeeta Sharma has announced her resignation from all political positions within the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), citing personal reasons.
Sharma thanked the leaders of both the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and APCC for giving her the opportunity to serve the people of Assam through the Indian National Congress.
Announcing her decision through an official statement, She said, “I have decided to resign from all my political posts in the APCC. I thank the leaders of both AICC and APCC for allowing me the opportunity to serve the people of Assam through the Indian National Congress—a party deeply connected to my upbringing.”
“I wish Sri Gaurav Gogoi, the new APCC president, and his team all the best and hope they will be able to steer the party towards a better future, cleansing it from within,” Sharma stated.
“We had given the Panchayat Elections Enquiry Committee Report to AICC under the chairmanship of Ex-MP, Ex-APCC President Sri Paban Singh Ghatowar, Sri R. P. Sharma, Ex-MP, member, and myself as member-secretary. I hope our suggestions will be carried out in letter and spirit for the betterment of the party,” she further stated.
Notably, she was the party’s candidate representing the Guwahati constituency in the Vidhan Sabha elections in 2016 and the Lok Sabha elections in 2019.

Her resignation comes at a crucial time as the Congress gears up for a leadership reset ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
