Tinsukia: In a major breakthrough, security forces have recovered approximately 30 kg of explosives from the Digboi Reserve Forest in eastern Assam‘s Tinsukia district.
The explosives were recovered during a joint operation by Tinsukia police and the Indian Army.
According to police, the explosives were buried nearly a year ago by Nabajit Asom, a recently surrendered cadre of the proscribed outfit ULFA-I.
The police said the explosives were hidden about 500 meters from the Dibru River.
During the operation, the explosives were found hidden in eight polythene bags, a tiffin box, and a bucket.
Suspecting the presence of additional stockpiles, security forces have initiated a search operation in the area.

Two hardcore ULFA-I cadres surrendered to the police in Tinsukia district on February 29.
The surrendered individuals were identified as SS Lt Nabojit Asom, from Bolaguri in Kumthai, Golaghat, and SS Cpl Niku Asom, from Meleng Lohkor village in Teok.
The operation was conducted by Assam Police, Military Intelligence, and Assam Rifles.
