Tinsukia: In a major breakthrough, security forces have recovered approximately 30 kg of explosives from the Digboi Reserve Forest in eastern Assam‘s Tinsukia district.

The explosives were recovered during a joint operation by Tinsukia police and the Indian Army.

According to police, the explosives were buried nearly a year ago by Nabajit Asom, a recently surrendered cadre of the proscribed outfit ULFA-I.

The police said the explosives were hidden about 500 meters from the Dibru River.

During the operation, the explosives were found hidden in eight polythene bags, a tiffin box, and a bucket.

Suspecting the presence of additional stockpiles, security forces have initiated a search operation in the area.
