GUWAHATI: Special Director General of Police (SDGP) of Assam Harmeet Singh has assured of a thorough investigation into the recent ULFA-I bomb threat case.
“The safety and security of the people is our paramount concern,” SDGP Harmeet Singh said during a high-level meeting of top Assam police officials in Dibrugarh on Sunday.
He said that Assam Police have formed Special Investigation Teams (SITs) under the supervision of Superintendents of Police (SPs) in districts where the bomb-like objects were recovered.
In Guwahati, the team will be supervised by the Commissioner of Police, Singh said.
The SITs are tasked to conduct a thorough probe to determine the nature of the substances and to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
He further stressed the need for innovative strategies to apprehend those responsible for the bomb threat.
Notably, the state police on Friday announced a reward of Rs five lakh for those providing credible information for investigation into the case.
Seeking public co-operation for an investigation into the case, police said those providing information about those who made the bombs and helped in transportation and planting the bombs would be given the cash reward. Police also shared a WhatsApp number and details of social media handles for sharing the information.
