Guwahati: Assam currently has six active COVID-19 cases, with two new recoveries recorded in the past 24 hours, according to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry released on Monday.
Since the beginning of this year, seven people in Assam have recovered from COVID-19, indicating a relatively low infection rate in the state during the current wave.
Nationally, India has 6,133 active cases, and six additional COVID-related deaths have been reported.
Health officials have reassured that the majority of recent cases remain mild and are being effectively managed through home isolation.
In anticipation of possible surges, all states and Union Territories have been advised to ensure readiness by maintaining adequate supplies of oxygen, isolation beds, ventilators, and essential medications.
To assess national preparedness, a series of high-level technical review meetings were convened on June 2 and 3.
These were led by Dr. Sunita Sharma, Director General of Health Services (DGHS), and involved key stakeholders from the Disaster Management Cell, Emergency Management Response (EMR), the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), and central hospitals in Delhi, as well as health officials from across the country.
The meetings aimed to review the ongoing COVID-19 situation and coordinate strategic responses to ensure continued public health safety.
