Guwahati: Preparations are afoot for the Srimanta Sankardeva Award ceremony to be held at Guwahati‘s Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra on April 25.
President Droupadi Murmu, who will be on a 2-day visit to the state, will grace the event as the chief guest.
Chief Secretary Ravi Kota conducted a high-level inspection of the venue on Thursday to ensure all arrangements are in order for the Srimanta Sankardeva Award Ceremony, following directives from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“Held detailed discussions with all stakeholders, with special emphasis on creating an ambience that appropriately honours the legacy of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva,” a statement from the CMO read.
Officials also reviewed the list of dignitaries, traffic management, and logistical arrangements to ensure smooth execution of the event.
Earlier, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a meeting with senior officials and Gauhati University authorities at Lok Sewa Bhawan to review preparations for President Droupadi Murmu’s upcoming visit to the state.

The Srimanta Sankardeva Award is one of Assam’s highest cultural honours, recognising individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the arts.
It is named after the revered Vaishnavite saint and social reformer of Assam, Srimanta Sankardeva.
