Diphu: Assam Police on Sunday seized a huge consignment of heroin at Dilai Tiniali in Karbi Anglong district.
Police officials told Northeast News that acting on an intelligence input, a check post was set up at Dilai Tiniali on Sunday morning.
A joint team of Assam Police and CRPF arrested two persons and seized the drug consignment during a joint operation.
A pick-up van was intercepted at 10.35 am and during checking, and the heroin consignment weighing 3.5 kg was seized.
The drug consignment, which reportedly originated from Myanmar, was packed in 286 soap cases. The value of the contraband is estimated to be around Rs 18 crore, police said.
The two persons arrested with the drug consignment were from Barpeta district, police said.
