Guwahati: Assam Police have arrested another alleged fake doctor in Cachar district as part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal medical practitioners, officials said.
The accused, identified as Shamim Ahmed Laskar of the Bhaga area under Dholai, was taken into custody following a complaint lodged by Dr Abhijit Neog, Anti-Quackery and Vigilance Officer of the Assam Council of Medical Registration (ACMR).
Based on the complaint, Cachar Police conducted a raid in the Bhaga area and apprehended Laskar, who is accused of running an unauthorised medical chamber for an extended period.
Police said he had been posing as a qualified doctor using a forged MBBS certificate and providing medical treatment without any valid registration.
