GUWAHATI: Assam Police arrested three Bangladeshi nationals on Monday who had illegally India through Tripura.
The apprehended individuals, all from the Rajshahi district in Bangladesh, were identified as MD Abu Shaid, Asadul Islam, and MD Sarwar.
According to police, one of the detainees was found to be in possession of an Aadhaar card and had previously entered India illegally.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to announce the arrests of the three Bangladeshi nationals.
“Assam Police apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals last night who entered India from the Tripura side. All three intended to travel to Chennai for labor work,” CM Sarma said.
After their apprehension, the individuals were reportedly deported back to Bangladesh.
In a separate incident, Assam Police also pushed back another infiltrator from Bangladesh on Monday. The infiltrator, identified as Lipi Akhtar from Dhaka Division, was handed back to Bangladeshi Authorities.

“Investigation has revealed that Smt Akhtar entered Indian territory on the early hours of 18th August 2024 at Sukchar, South Salmara District on foot, after multiple bus and boat rides spanning over 24 hours. After taking shelter at a house in Sukchar, she proceeded to Dhubri by boat where she was intercepted,” the chief minister said.
He further said that a manhunt is underway to trace other accomplices and infiltrators.
Amid the prevailing situation in neighbouring Bangladesh, CM Sarma raised concern over the illegal infiltration into India from Bangladesh.
