Guwahati: In a major clampdown on illegal drug trafficking, Assam police seized heroin worth Rs 1 crore and arrested one individual in Nagaon district on Friday.
Acting on a specific tip-off, the police intercepted a vehicle in Nagaon’s Gereki area and seized 461 gm of heroin following a thorough search.
Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his social media handle X wrote, “War on drugs continues; heroin worth Rs 1 crore seized. In a source-backed operation, Nagaon police intercepted a vehicle at Gereki and recovered 461 grams of heroin on a thorough search. Police arrested one person in this regard.”

He lauded the Assam Police team’s commendable contribution to the war on drugs campaign.
In a separate operation on March 20, a team from Nagaon Police conducted an anti-narcotics operation at Kampur and recovered plastic vials containing 5.47gm of heroin. The accused has been arrested, and further legal action is underway.

A Nagaon Police team from Rupahihat PS conducted an anti-narcotics operation on March 17, resulting in the seizure of 13.91 grams of heroin concealed within a soap case as well as 12 units of Berrycof Cough syrup containing Codeine Phosphate and Triprolidine HCl.
