Guwahati: A day after Congress MP Rakibul Hussain and his PSOs were attacked by unidentified persons in Assam’s Nagaon district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said the Assam police had identified the individuals involved in the alleged assault.
Police have arrested 10 individuals in connection with the alleged attack on Congress MP Rakibul Hussain at Nagaon on February 20.
The details of the arrested individuals involved in the incident were shared by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on his official X handle.
The police have identified the individuals involved in the alleged incident of assault on Congress MP Sri Rakibul Hussain. The identified persons are as follows:
1/ Harun of Jamtola
2/ Haresh of Fakoli
3/ Basir of Tamulitup
4/ Kasem Ali of Kawoimari

“The police have identified the individuals involved in the alleged incident of assault on Congress MP Sri Rakibul Hussain,” Himanta Biswa Sarma posted.
Sarma listed the names of the following 10 accused in his post. The names include Harun of Jamtola, Haresh of Fakoli, Basir of Tamulitup, Kasem Ali of Kawoimari, Rosidul of Kawoimar, Ayub Gunabari, Lutkior of Rail station, Khaleque of Rowmari, Mojibur of Gorematikhowa and Jahangir of Koachgaon.
CM Sarma said the police would take action against the identified individuals as per the law.

Rakibul Hussain was attacked on Thursday by a group of people armed with cricket bats in Assam’s Nagaon district while he was on his way to attend a party meeting at Gunomari village under Rupohi police station on a two-wheeler.
The masked attackers were shouting slogans against the MP. The personal security officers (PSOs) of the Congress leader attempted to protect Rakibul Hussain by opening fire but were also attacked by the mob.
