Notably, four more persons were apprehended on Friday for allegedly supporting Pakistan on social media.

CM Sarma said they were arrested for anti-national posts and comments on social media.

However, he did not mention the charges under which they were arrested or the details of the offences they had committed.

Those arrested were identified as Rosidul Ali of Tampulpur, Imdadur Rahman of Lakhimpur, Abdul Samad of Hojai and Sahabad Ali of Dhurbi.

AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam was earlier arrested on sedition charges for allegedly “defending” Pakistan and its complicity in the Pahalgam attack.

He was the first individual arrested in this crackdown for expressing a ‘pro-Pakistan’ stance.

After he secured bail in that case, he was held under the stringent National Security Act.

The Chief Minister had earlier stated that police are tracking and pursuing sympathizers of Pakistan and Islamic terrorism, and that they will face prosecution under the National Security Act.
