Bongaigaon: NTPC Bongaigaon has forged a key partnership with local authorities to enhance the infrastructure at the Kokrajhar district jail, Assam, as outlined in a recent official statement released on Saturday.
A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed on Friday between NTPC Bongaigaon, the Kokrajhar district administration, and the Public Works Department (PWD) of the Kokrajhar and Chirang District Territorial Division.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, NTPC Bongaigaon has allocated a significant sum of over Rs 32.82 lakh to fund essential upgrades at the jail.
The project includes the construction of a state-of-the-art kitchen designed to ensure hygienic food preparation and distribution.
Additionally, a multi-purpose hall will be built to accommodate skill development programs, vocational training, and rehabilitation initiatives for inmates.
These improvements are expected to greatly enhance the living conditions of the inmates and support their rehabilitation and vocational development.
The initiative aims to create a more conducive environment for the prisoners’ well-being and reintegration into society.
The project is set to be completed within 16 months, under the supervision of the Kokrajhar district administration and the PWD.
The MoA was signed by Onkar Nath, AGM (HR) of NTPC Bongaigaon; Ajit Kumar Narzary, Executive Engineer of PWD-Kokrajhar and Chirang District Territorial Division; and Kabita Deka, Additional District Commissioner of Kokrajhar.
The formal exchange of the agreement took place between Masanda M Pertin, Kokrajhar District Commissioner, and Arnab Maitra, Business Unit Head of NTPC Bongaigaon.
