Kokrajhar (Assam): Preparations for the 2025 Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections gained momentum with a high-level review meeting held on Thursday at the conference hall of the Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner’s office.
The meeting was chaired by Assam State Election Commissioner Ranjan Sarma and attended by senior officials including Gitartha Baruah, Secretary of the Assam State Election Commission; IGP of Bodoland Territorial Region, Vivek Raj Singh; Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Masanda M. Pertin; Superintendent of Police Pushparaj Singh; and other key election and administrative officers.
Sarma expressed satisfaction with the timely publication of the draft electoral rolls and appreciated the efforts of the district administration.
He stressed the need for detailed planning, inter-departmental coordination, and strict adherence to election protocols to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling.
The meeting reviewed the status of 912 polling stations across the 12 BTC constituencies in the district, with special focus on critical and vulnerable locations.
Nine polling stations were flagged based on high voter turnout trends during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Discussions also covered the deployment of around 4,378 polling officials, including sector officers, with training and logistical arrangements already underway.
