Guwahati: The 9th edition of the Chalachitram National Film Festival (CNFF) will be held on October 25 and 26 at the Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio at Kahilipara in Guwahati.
The annual event, known for celebrating India’s rich heritage through cinema, will spotlight short features and documentaries centered around the theme “Our Heritage, Our Pride.”
Organized by Chalachitram, a subsidiary of Vishwa Samvad Kendra Assam, the 2-day festival aims to foster a sense of national pride and cultural consciousness through the visual medium.
CNFF 2025 will include both competitive (exclusively for filmmakers from the Northeast) and non-competitive categories.
Submissions are invited on a wide range of sub-themes, including Indian heritage, indigenous cultures, freedom movement heroes, epics and mythology, cultural nationalism, women empowerment, traditional sports, Yoga & Ayurveda, family values, agriculture, tourism, and more.
Film entries must be submitted via FilmFreeway with all required documentation. Submission deadlines are: Early Bird (June 19, 2025); Standard (with Rs 500 fee – July 19) and Late (with Rs 1,000 fee till September 20). Each submission must not exceed 25 minutes, including credits.
Awards will be presented in several categories, such as Best Short Feature, Best Documentary, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing under the Northeast segment, along with Best Short Feature and Best Documentary in the national segment.
