Guwahati: The newly constructed international terminal (T2) at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati has won the prestigious ‘International Architectural Award 2025’ in the Transport category.
Announcing the recognition, Guwahati International Airport Ltd posted on X, “We are proud to announce that the brand new #GuwahatiAirport T2 has been honoured with the International Architectural Award 2025 in the Transport category.”
A tribute to the wonders of Northeast India, the infrastructure is inspired by the resilience of bamboo and the grace of foxtail orchids, it said.
“Reflecting the natural beauty, biodiversity, and cultural depth of Assam, this iconic terminal blends sustainability with soul, welcoming the world to the heart of the region,” it added.
Notably, the International Architectural Award is one of the world’s most coveted honours in the field of design and infrastructure, recognising excellence in innovation, aesthetics, and sustainability.
CM Sarma recently visited the under-construction international terminal at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport to review the progress of the work.
He stated that the terminal is expected to be ready by the end of November this year.

“On the verge of completion, it will boost connectivity in North East and also enhance connectivity for our neighbour Bhutan. Come November, get ready to fly in to a whole new experience,” the chief minister added.
