Guwahati: In a bid to enhance workplace safety for women employees, the Assam government has decided to implement the SHe-Box (Sexual Harassment Electronic Box) system across all departments of the state administration.
The initiative will enable women employees to file complaints related to workplace harassment through a secure and confidential electronic platform. Once rolled out, the SHe-Box facility will be accessible in every government department in the state.
To supervise the implementation and functioning of the system, Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer Hemashri Hazarika, currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, has been appointed as the nodal officer.
She will be responsible for monitoring the platform and ensuring that complaints are properly tracked and addressed.
The SHe-Box platform is intended to provide women employees with a safer and more accessible mechanism to report incidents of harassment at their workplace.
Through the online system, complainants will be able to submit grievances while maintaining confidentiality. The platform will allow complainants to track the status of their complaints in a structured and transparent manner.
The platform functions as an online complaint management system designed to record, monitor and address cases of sexual harassment at the workplace in accordance with the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
