GUWAHATI: The Assam government has announced a 10-day healthcare camp initiative starting from September 1, aimed at identifying children with heart and blood-related illnesses.
The primary objective of these camps is to provide early detection and treatment for children in need.
Following the screening process, the government will design a treatment plan for children in need.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to highlight the government’s commitment to ensuring the good health of every child in the state.

The chief minister said, “Our aim is to ensure the good health of every child in Assam. From 1st-10th Sept, we are organizing special camps to identify children with heart & blood-related illness and chalk out their treatment plan.”
He urged parents to bring their children to the nearest screening camp for healthcare needs.
The healthcare camps will offer comprehensive support, including referral services to designated hospitals for those requiring specialized care.
Children between the ages of 0 and 14 will receive assistance for bone marrow transplants, leukemia, thalassemia, and rare blood diseases.

Additionally, healthcare facilities will be available for children aged 0 to 18 with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD).
On Sunday, the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital conducted a health camp for Kamrup Metro and Kamrup districts.
